What does Mummy do?

This week my little boy Harry, who is 3 1/2,  is doing about Mothers Day at preschool. They are talking about the differences that other children have in their home lives and are going to be asked what their Mummy does, do they have a job? When I received the email from preschool telling me this was going to be the focus of the week I wondered what Harry would say. I have asked him a couple of times this week “What does Mummy do?” he has provided a never ending list of tasks I complete which included – looking after me, looking after Charlie, looking after Daddy. Washing our hair, cooking, putting us to bed. It dawned on me that Harry has no idea at all that I actually work on anything apart from being a Mummy and this is great. I love the fact that I can work from home, all be it when Harry is at preschool or in bed, to generate an income and have some time to do work for my clients without it really having an impact on his life and day to day experiences. After a lot more discussion Harry did conclude that I had an office and a computer but he had absolutely no interest in what I did with either of them.

Becoming a VA has been a great way to work around the boys while they are young and fit what I do around our family and other businesses. I stumbled across My VA when I was looking to set up my business and this program gave me the confidence to go forward with my ideas and build a business which now helps support our family and allows me to use the skills and knowledge I have to work with some amazing clients who appreciate what I do for them (I hope at least!)

If you’d like to find out more about the MY VA program, which I must clarify is NOT a franchise, then have a look at their website or feel free to get in touch with me and I will happily tell you more about my experience.
